currently wondering
why is it that in most [but certainly
not all] cases, it seems as though there is an unspoken onus on ME
to visit everyone ELSE? i realize i don't live in a glamorous city, or
divine apartment. but i like to think i'm hospitable. it's fun to have
visitors. i've got beds and couches galore. apparently, i myself am not
enough of a draw for a sporadic visit or two.
or, perhaps, this is just the life of a stable twentysomething single. the ability to just pick up and go is a nice thing to have. then again, so are guests.
excuse my momentary insecurities. i think it's going to be one of those weeks.

a wee one
congratulations to little fritz and family...
welcome to the world.
pop quiz
the post office does, or does not, pick up mail from your home mailbox, so that it can be sent to various locations?
normally, i would say the answer is yes. but for whatever reason, my local post office seems to think the answer is What? why should i bother taking your mail? here, i'll even deliver new mail AND LEAVE YOUR FILTHY PARCEL WITH YOUR ADDRESS LISTED AS THE RETURN ADDRESS AND WITH CLEARLY UNCANCELLED POSTAGE IN YOUR MAILBOX AND PRETEND I DIDN'T EVEN SEE IT. what do you think this is, my JOB?
wtf?

notable
- the fantasticness known as The Current Weather
- the fact that my work email has FINALLY been set up
- the eighty-year-old woman driving the shiny red mustang
- the hair conditioner [?] i saw at the store called "henna 'n placenta" [?!]
- the pollen bits and tree sap plastered on the entire surface area of my car
cool and not-so-cool
it's a brisk 70 degrees fahrenheit here and MY AIR CONDITIONER HAS ACTUALLY BEEN TURNED OFF. praise Jesus.
in other news, i've been watching the
train wreck known as "hit me baby one more time". don't ask me why,
because i don't know either. apparently, acts from the 80's and early
90's, who have long since fallen off the national radar, return to
possibly humiliate themselves on nationwide television. for the most
part, this is successfully accomplished. aging rockers go far beyond
the realms of comedy, and straight into pure sadness. tiffany, of "i
think we're alone now" fame, paired a decent voice with hideous
outfits. i don't seem to recall her ever being that... er... busty.
is she pregnant? i hope she's pregnant. or maybe nursing. the phrase
"breasts as big as your head" kept chanting through my mind. yikes.
however, amidst the Remakes Gone Wrong feel of the night, i was pleasantly reminded of arrested development [uh, the group, not the show]. sadly, i missed "tennessee", but caught their rendition of "heaven" by los lonely boys. nice. though i never have understood the deal with the old man. what's the deal with the old man? i don't get it.
and you wonder why i haven't been blogging. this is it, folks. lame-o.

cleaning
today is the day that i went through all the miscellaneous CRAP that is in my office. most notably, the desk drawers.
oh. my.
this is only a brief list of discoveries:
- eight different post-it flag incarnations
- three white-out correcting tape contraptions
- two letter openers
- twenty-one mechanical pencils
- four regular pencils
- four colored pencils [yellow, blue, red, and green]
- thirty-four various pens
- innumerable paper clips
- even more rubber bands
- eleven highlighters
- seventeen official-looking, but mysterious, keys
and various and sundry other office supplies too numerous to mention here. this is not counting the indiscriminate tub-o'-writing-utensils on my desk.
i'm feeling much better about my desk space. before, i felt like i had to wash every time i grabbed something from a previously unexplored portion of the office. now, it's only about every other time.
next stop: ordering stacking trays to resolve the heinousness of The One Tray Inbox. how people handle one big steadily growing heap of "horizontal filing" is beyond me.

rundown
it's been a long week. new job,
adjusted schedules, social events, trip to columbus, late evenings all
around. doesn't sound like too much, but for this mdog, there's been a
lot of stuff going on.
i hope life settles into a normalized groove soon. things are well, but busy. i'm thankful for the weekend and ready to take a breather.
g'night.
