fascinating

the internet is a fascinating phenomenon.

i was going to say "place", but then, it's not really, is it? a vast network of intangibility. i recently indexed my site on a few search engines... lo and behold, i have been found and clicked and browsed. fascinating. especially since the first two searches which brought up my site involved people searching for answers to existence and wondering about the presence of God. pretty heady stuff for my little mblog. [unless, of course, they were only looking for song lyrics. but then, that's not nearly as much fun to think about.]

i am as surprised as anyone that i have met people -- i mean, physically, met people -- whom i previously knew only as screennames on a message board. crazy? a bit. friendships? definitely. to hug someone, to shake hands, to look into their eyeballs, to see the "real" person from the other side of that computer screen... the persona and the person become connected; the intangible becomes tangible.

who are you? what brings you here? do i know you, or you me? if you know me, then this site is merely an extension of myself... you are privy to these thoughts in addition to our relationship. if on the other hand you have merely had the good fortune of stumbling upon this site, then this is all you know of me. intangible thoughts splashed on a page, with no context whatsoever.

that... is weird to ponder.

but, intriguing. does anything i say mean anything to you about anything? if i tried to explain that God is the reason for existence, or that He is in fact, omnipresent, would that mean anything to you? anything at all? i really don't know. at any rate, i'll keep plugging along, unleashing random thoughts. maybe they'll affect other people. and if not, well, at least they're out of my head. that's enough for me.

Strange, indeed. I have done that as well, unfortunately I do not post about it or even reveal it because I know some people who have done it and it's taken its toll for the worse. For example, a marriage ending. My experiences would only encourage, and in this case, I'd like to keep that from happening.

I really like this site. Can I add you to my LINKAGE section? my email is ruppel1@yahoo.com if you need to get a hold of me. Thanks :)

haha... yes, it was weird at first -- okay, it still is -- explaining to people that i have "friends from the internet". [the hardest was admitting i was one of "those" people, lol.] as a caveat, all the folks i've met are friends only, all but one are of the female variety.

feel free to link me... i'd like to do the same, if that's alright with you. :)

thanks for stopping in!

I still refuse to label myself as one of "those" people. :)

"i recently indexed my site on a few search engines... lo and behold, i have been found and clicked and browsed"

what does this mean :?:

lol...

if you have a website, you can go to google [or any other search engine] and "suggest your site" to them... and if they decide to, they can add the site to their index. which i guess, makes it more likely that the site will show up on google searches.

that's part one of your question... part two deals with the fact that squarespace allows me to see if people reached my site through a search engine, and if so, what they were searching for.

does that help? :)
