note to self
under no circumstances should you
leave microwaving popcorn unattended. even in your one-story, fairly
open floor plan, two bedroom apartment. even for two minutes. even ever.
funny, i was just thinking this evening about the flaming fish i inadvertently created a year or two ago. which one smells worse: charred seafood, or burnt popcorn?
bleh.

last week I left some micro popcorn unattended at work... to chilling (or should I say scorching?) results.
The scent of burning popcorn, added to acrid smoke issuing from the breakroom does little to ingratiate oneself with one's co-workers, I found.
the smell, i think, is never going away.
they are inanimate objects after all.
last year, right before a final exam, one of my grade eight students put a microwavable cup-of-noodles in the mic, set it for 30 minutes, and left to write his exam.
we caught it before the smoke alarm went off, but the smell that lingered was HORRIFIC!
