technical difficulties

so. every time i find the will to play guitar + sing in front of lots of people -- therefore requiring microphones and pickups and other such nonsense -- something happens wherein i am unable to do the performance justice, i.e. forced to run the acoustic guitar through a bass amp, absentee mic stands, lack of personnel running proper sound mixes.

i'm thinking this is a sign. i guess i'll just stick to being unplugged.

Or maybe it's a sign that you need to sing and play guitar in a forum that would have proper equipment and talented personnel running sound mixes. Seriously, you were great. I hope you play that song again under circumstances that will allow the audience to hear all the words. What I could hear of that I really liked too.

Actually, it was a sign that our sound person for the night was late... and when he reads your blog I will allow him to properly grovel. I will put our equipement and people up against anyone... but the guy running sound when you sang was the custodian! But it sounded really... ah... clean.

But it was really good... so stop making excuses. :O)

I'm so sorry I was late. Next time you have the desire to play guitar + sing in front of lots of people I'll be there and I'll get there early! Actually, I'm not just sorry I wasn't there to give you a good mix, I'm also sorry I missed hearing your song. Seriously, I'm really, really sorry. I'm perhaps even sorry enough to buy you a frescante. Call me sometime this week after work to collect.

"...the guy running sound when you sang was the custodian! But it sounded really... ah... clean."

you are funny.

jared, i didn't mean to make you feel bad... i'm really getting the sense though that i should just stick to playing in small groups, unplugged, no pressure. it's more my nature, anyway.

of course, i won't refuse the frescante offer [or mocha, perhaps]. maybe we could squeeze in some photoshop, too.

and thanks all for the kind words...

If you want to feel sorry to me... you can buy me a frescante too.

Paul: I'm not buying, but we can meet for frescantes any time you want. Just don't expect any pity. :-)
