timing
i am THISCLOSE to having a new phone in hand. as of 8:42am it was, i am sure, lovingly placed on a fedex truck, headed west on us-50. it was actually supposed to arrive on friday. irritating, yes; but then, what's a few more days?
pulled my current phone out at lunch today. the phone itself seems to make and take calls, but the screen: it is dead. woe is me.
at first glance, this may seem like perfect timing. but how the hell am i supposed to get 150+ phone numbers off of my phone WITHOUT A FREAKING SCREEN.
option #1: buy a stupid data cable for a DYING phone.
option #2: just wait for everyone to call ME.
i'll probably end up going with option #2, since i am both lazy and cheap. besides, if i can't find your number in my excel address book, then i suppose i don't call you much, do i?
i was planning on entering numbers manually and chucking rarely used ones... but this isn't exactly what i had in mind.
meh.

i sat down one evening with the directory, phone book, and my address book and just typed them in. I add as people call... but it was great just to start over again.
have fun with your new phone! should we baptize it?
data entry may be the activity of the night... assuming the phone makes it here today. i'm actually kind of looking forward to minimizing, just afraid that i've lost possibly important numbers that i never transferred elsewhere.
NO baptisms!
Try taking it to the cingular store. They were able to download the numbers off of my old phone and on to the new one even though I don't have a SIM card. They weren't sure it would work, but it was fine.
