so, i'm not quite as neurotic as this entry will make me seem, but i figured this would be entertaining enough to post. i'm going to my ten year reunion on saturday and just what the hell do you wear to a ten year reunion? i cannot possibly convey my much improved wardrobe, nor my much improved general awesomeness since 1997 in one evening. at worst, i would like to at least not look like a schmuck. this is my goal. so, readers. welcome to my over-planning world.

notes on the event: saturday, 6-12pm. forecast: 50°F and clear. [read: brrrrr!]. i grew up in a small rural town [read: not fancy]. graduating class of about one hundred [read: no strangers]. it's at the american legion hall [read: again, not fancy].

opinions? please don't ask me why i look so angry in the last three because i don't know. my look serious and/or unaffected expressions often end up as man, what's HER problem? le sigh. i think mostly it was a combination of wondering when the timer was going off, and getting tired of resetting the camera for every shot. and my camera is conveniently not flat on any surface except for the very bottom, which gives the last shots a nice tilted effect, no?

this seems obvious, but click for larger views.

i also know the pictures don't match up top to bottom but honestly don't you think i've already spent far too much time on this already?

the polls are open!

i vote for slant. and good luck with the reunion. i totally skipped mine because 10 years just didn't make me any cooler. :)

hope you have a great time! and may all the former disgusting, anorexic, prissy cheerleaders weigh five times as much as you!

1. dress
2. purple shirt w/ pants
3. plaid skirt w/ shirt

That's my order of preference. Looks good! We didn't have a 10 year.

You look great in the dress, and if it's too chilly wear a little sweater....
however, really like the purple shirt as well...and as Joy said, the third option would be plaid skirt...have a great time:) Say 'hi' to VW as you pass by!

I say that you go with the facial expression in 02 slant.

I like the brown shirt. Everyone's gonna wear a little black dress. The shirt says "yeah, I'm pretty cool. I don't have to prove anything to you."

So yeah.

It's gotta be the dress. Yee-haw!

I wore layered camis and jeans last summer... but it was a picnic, then a bar meet 'n' greet.

I'm with the black dress... top right

Oct 25, 2007 at 09:45PM | Unregistered Commenterpaul

or to really get their attention, you could just wear the white towl... top right.

the dress looks the best, but it's such a solid color. scarf, belt, accessories?
like the shirt combo w/ pants & at least it'll keep your arms/legs semi-covered from any chill.
everyone else seems to have nixed the plaid skirt, but i really like it.
well, that was unhelpful. i'm even indecisive for other people.

thanks everyone! you are great [and hilarious]. polls are still open and i'm still thinking, though leaning toward the shirt/pants combo.

lance - if i had known about it, i would have used that for every shot. though it seems frighteningly similar to this expression.

i'm a little worried.

i vote dress, then shirt and skirt, then the pants combo. which is weird, because i am SUCH a pants girl, but you look better in the other options.

You look amazing in the dress. But, I'm tempted to agree with super des. "Don't have anything to prove" is much more attractive than "haha, all you little tramps who hated me back then now have stretch marks from your 5 kids and smell like grease from working at McDonald's." (Although, granted, that is pretty damn satisfying in it's own right.)

I vote for the plaid skirt/black shirt (I'm sure it's called something other than a 'shirt,' but, seriously, I've already started to doubt my masculinity just by participating in a 'what should I wear?' discussion.) It looks really good too, but less formal than the dress. And I've never really found pants attractive on women (jeans, on the other hand, are a much different story.)

i think you gotta go with the little black dress...yeah it's kinda cliche BUT you rock it. and isn't the point of going to a reunion to look better than everyone else anyway? two things though: you must accessorize!! and you cannot wear those shoes.

if you want some alternative suggestions from me...just ask! :D

Definitely dress, and with a sweater. What cardigan options do you have? Grey or light blue or dark red would be best. Lt's move on to accessories. Do you have heels? Wear heels. Do you have a cute barette, as in a hair clip, not to be confused with a baret, which is a hat and not recommended. Earrings, too would be lovely. Silver earrings, small hoops maybe. If no earrings, definitely a silver bracelet.

thanks everyone. i'm blushing over here.

for those who don't know me very well, know that what you see in the pictures is what you get. any other options, shoes, accessories, etc, would have been included if i had them.

and just for clarity's sake: the dress is actually dark blue. :)

Plaid, if thats how its spelled

Oct 26, 2007 at 10:16AM | Unregistered CommenterAndrew Luis

dress. I like how punked out you make it with your hair. maybe with some boots?

Oct 26, 2007 at 12:18PM | Unregistered Commenterrachel

I like the dress - even though it's not really black!

Oct 26, 2007 at 03:46PM | Unregistered CommenterJim

Blue if you want to go home with a date (it is a black dress and not a blue dress, right?). Slant if you want to stay warm but still look hip.

Oct 26, 2007 at 04:57PM | Unregistered Commenterjared

Right, just read comments. Blue dress it is, but it has the same effect whatever the color.

Oct 26, 2007 at 05:00PM | Unregistered Commenterjared

So... which one did you decide to go with? How'd it work out?

Oct 29, 2007 at 09:55AM | Unregistered CommenterIan

for the record, i went with the shirt and pants. and i was definitely not underdressed [i.e., ian would likely have enjoyed the crowd]. :)

Oct 29, 2007 at 10:24AM | Registered Commentermdog

i say little black dress. as jdoc said, a little cliche, but you rock it. you've got some gams, girl! :)

may your 10-year not find you wasting $65 to eat a horrible menu and get hit on in backhanded ways (some day i should blog about my waster of an evening, er, 10-year reunion).

most importantly, have fun!

Oct 29, 2007 at 07:57PM | Unregistered Commenterann-marie

The dress is hawt. But if you're worried about the weather, go with the pants, but wear a dressier shirt.

And as for the rest, no worries. Your awesomeness speaks for itself.

Shirt and pants were probably better for drinking beer straight from the keg. But clearly, the blue dress will need to make an appearance soon to satisfy your legions of fans.

When you do decide to rock that blue dress, you need to have this song playing: http://www.myspace.com/mikedoughty
