don't speak
"Everyone I’ve ever talked to who is pro-text has made the argument that sometimes you just don’t feel like having a conversation with the person you want to convey information to. Now that I know that about you, how do you think I’m going to feel the next time I get a text from you instead of a call?"

his post pretty much sums up my thoughts on the subject.
i don't have a text plan, either, so don't text me without good reason [i.e. you are at the library, or a concert, you are DYING AND CANNOT SPEAK, etc.].
are you aware that voice calls come free with most cell phone plans? JUST EFFING CALL ME. CRIMENY.
oh, and uh... happy new year's eve.
i promise i won't text you at midnight.

amen.
this is another area where I'm way behind what is cool. But you know...I think I'm okay with that.
And text messages cost me money... so please don't text me either.
but but... all the kids are doing it these days...
I don't mind text messages for one-off quickie comments, but in general would rather talk to someone than send dozens or hundreds of messages back and forth.
If I don't want to talk to someone, chances are I don't want to text them, either. But I guess that's just me.
texting because you don't want to 'talk'? weird.
i'll text to convey a quick message - especially if i think the person is busy. but, i have 250 text messages on my monthly plan (i never ever use that many!). but yeah, using text to have an IM-like conversation is annoying.
Texting is much less annoying on the iPhone, but I'd still rather talk. Although, if I'm in a long meeting, texting can be an excellent form of pain relief.
Texting is fun. :-)
