inquiring minds
in case you ever needed to know: on a 1999 chevrolet cavalier, BOTH the corner headlight and marker lamp are supposed to blink when you use the turn signal. because how often do you watch your car's blinkers when you are driving? NEVER, THAT'S WHEN.
so when two bulbs of opposite kinds each go out it makes things a bit confusing when the blinker inside the cabin alerts you that a right turn signal is out but has long ago failed to alert you that a left turn signal is also out and when you park your car and get out to inspect what is happening and find that only the right corner bulb and left marker bulb are blinking you suddenly realize you have no idea what in the hell is supposed to be blinking in the first place so what good is it really to stand there and watch the various ways in which the front of my car can go blinkblinkblinkblinkblink.
anyway, thanks to tyler for finally figuring out the convoluted turn signal issue on my behalf. i also now know how to take off the underhood splash guard and get to the headlight assemblies. woo.

Tyler is a good egg.
ha ha ha ha ha, yes.
That happened to me once. I had to drive around like that for a few days. It was stupid.
I once had a short in my taillight which caused my low -beam headlights AND taillights to not function. If I got caught out after dark, I had to drive around with my high-beam headlights and emergency flashers on. Strangely, they worked fine (and so did the brake lights).
How did you figure out they were not working in the first place
the sound your turn signal makes inside the cabin, you know the one that goes 'click.. click.. click..'? it starts going clickclickclickclickclickclick and makes you want to kill yourself whenever you have to turn that direction. trust me, you'll know if it happens.
