Why do people despise/mourn/deride jury duty so much? I like it. It's a civil duty, and it gets me out of my normal routine. What else have you got to do? Your regular job? Yeah, there's a good time. Everybody's better than jury duty, it seems.
PS: the only time i got called for jury duty, they didn't need me. :(
Whee. I like Paul's idea. I also didn't realize Patrick was a card-carrying patriot... you learn something new every day. The problem is, you're there for much longer than your regular job, the pay is lousier (surprisingly) and you're expected to pay attention.

That's kind of my attitude too. At jury duty, something interesting could happen, as opposed to my normal job: dullsville.
On the other hand, I've only ever been called for civil court, not criminal court. And calling me for civil court is really just a waste of everyone's time because nearly all of those "Have you or a close friend or family member ever..." questions wind up disqualifying me.
i'm back at work [it's 5:45pm]. i've been chosen for the jury box and expected back tomorrow morning for closing arguments.
i have lots of thoughts on this process, but i suppose i'll save it for a full post later on. i will say for now that the civic duty thing i'm totally behind. my only two negatives are 1) i have no idea what my employer's policy is on pay whilst out for jury duty, and 2) i'm now a full day behind on paperwork. and i had just almost gotten my desk clean yesterday. :(

that sucks. Sorry :(
Do what I did. Just say, "I think I would make a great juror. I can tell someone is guilty just by lookin at 'em!"
Then shake a bit and yell at the top of your lungs, "Fry 'em!"
paul scares me a little.

*sigh* If only my past wasn't so sordid.

Just for the record... I have served on a jury 2 times now (and both times got asked to serve as the foreman...go figure) and I LOVED the experience.
But than again, my original career idea was law.
Jury Duty? Is there money to be made here (he said on the sadistic voice of an entrpenuer {mispelled})
i'm back at work [it's 9:25pm].
