Remember the old Highlights for Kids magazine game where they would take pictures of everyday things, like yarn, or a pile of paper clips and then crop/shoot them close up in such a way that you might have to look twice to figure out what they are? How about doing that with items from around your house?

how about "recipes for danger"? Like a cord in the middle of the floor, a toaster near a bathtub, etc. You could make an educational poster series.
